Match notes
The Freelance Frogs recieved the opening kick off, and the frog debut was a reality.
Frogs started out slow though, having to rely on most of their training just to stay on their feet, as they tried to block their way through the orcs for the first three turns..
Flowers By Irene's stonewall defence came crushing down on the frogs and seemed to have their offence stalled on one side of the pitch. But frogs are faster then they seem, and bounced the drive back towards the other side, even surfing a couple of orcs into the crowd in the process. Despite being down two players for the last part of the half, the orcs sticked to their conservative defensive plans, staying on the frogs while keeping safeties deep, not allowing the frogs to break through for a score. At the end of the half, the frogs had set them selves up for a fairly easy score, but Grace Hopper failed an easy dodge to lend an assist, denying Grim Leaper to blitz free for a last minute score.. Of course triggering a verbal assult from the frustrated coach..

A kick deep into Flowers By Irenes half started the second half, and what was expected to be a tough beating for the frogs. With 9 frogs against 8 orcs, the orcs needed to put a hurtin' on the longlegs, but not being used to the anatomy of the frogs, the orcs couldn't really seem to hit them were it hurts, and they never really figured that out until the very end of the game..
So with most frogs able to act, they quickly tied up the advancing orcs, and Grim Leaper along with Jumpin Jack Flash rushed into the orcs backfield, putting a tacklezone on the ball carrier, and cutting him of from the rest of the team. The orcs came scrambling back, but it was too late and Grim Leaper blitzed, sacked, picked up and scored, giving the frogs a 1-0 lead.
On the next drive Flowers By Irene, fielding only 8, could bring the ball closer to the line of scrimage, but again the frogs, now fielding 10, came rushing through applying intense pressure on the ball carrier while leaving all but one orc covered down field. This time though, the orcs could free up Znot Urhvzz and he got a pass of, only to be intercepted by Dr. Quack. A quick hand of to Grim Leaper who got out of reach before scoring an unthreatened second touchdown, leaving the orcs no chance at a draw, without some sort of miracle.
The orcs still gave their best effort, and pushed for the consolation score, but again the frogs swarmed the orcs, and Znot Urhvzz's only chance to break free was an almost impossible dodge, leaving both him and the ball on the ground between both frogs and orcs now scrambling for the loose ball. A blitz and a few blocks later, the ball was free from any orc tackle zones, and the frogs got hold of it, but couldn't get it safe. The orcs promptly blitzed down the most obvious scoring threat, and marked the ball carrier.
The ball carrier was blitzed free, and Lenny "The Croak" jumped up, dodged and ran all he could, only to se the ball fumbled on the quick pass, denying him his first and the frogs their third touchdown.
In all a good debut for the Freelance Frogs on a day where the orcs of Flowers By Irene seemed mediocre through out, to the disappointment of their coach.
